ABOUT US

 

The Fredonia Fire Department was re-organized in 1901 after having been disbanded ten years previous. During those ten years the fire department was manned by on call paid firefighters. After several catastrophic fires the village board asked the Fire Department to re-organize. On April 2, 1901 the Fredonia Fire Department consisting of the D. R. Barker Hose. Co. #1, M. M. Fenner Hose Co.#2 and the J. S. Lambert Hook & ladder Co. #1. In 1902, the Fredonia Fire Police Co. was formed.  As the village grew,  a staff of Professional Firefighters was added to the Fire Department. Together these volunteers and paid firefighters offer 24 hours service for fire protection, fire prevention and emergency medical service. 

 

 

 

Volunteers

There are approximately 125 volunteers in the Fredonia Fire Department these volunteers give unselfishly  many hours of their time to helping protect the community. These volunteers come from all walks of life in the village.

Professional Firefighters

There are currently six full-time professional and one part-time firefighters on staff at the Fredonia Fire Department. These experienced veterans of the fire service man the station 24 hours a day. The professional firefighters are all trained to advanced life support levels, and have saved many lives.

 

Auxiliary

The Fredonia Auxiliary consists of wives and family members of the Volunteers. The auxiliary assists the fire Department in it's strive for excellence. Members serve on department committees, and have fund raisers for making purchases of needed items. The Auxiliary works behind the scenes by providing assistance whenever called upon.
